![]() ![]() Hurts isn't being used like a QB, he's being used like Ricky Williams on the dolphins, so every team knows what's happening every time he steps on the field. Instead, we have the same shit, every week. I honestly think that if we got rid of Doug, we would have a lot of talented OCs licking their chops to get the head coaching job here and have the opportunity to coach Wentz and our talented skill position players and take advantage of our offense. If our once MVP candidate QB looks like Blake Bortles out there after 2 other years where he was also good, then something is inherently wrong with what's going on out there. Instead, we hired a bunch of people to apparently do nothing but have interesting titles while Doug still designs and calls the most milquetoast offense in the entire league. However, I am of the mindset that if you have a QB who's had 3 statistically good years in a row, with the final 4 games of last year being "win or go home" and he showed up in those games big time, then you need to look at both the player and the coaching staff around him. But I'm not going to say he's been good, or even average this year. I'm a big Wentz fan, and find myself defending him against the people who say "he's always been bad" on a weekly basis. But when it's dozens of stats telling you the same story, then it's probably time to start listening. I agree you can spin one or two stats 10 ways to Sunday. Wentz is last in the league in terms of Defense Adjusted Yards Above Replacement, which accounts for situation and opponent ( source).Wentz has faced the 7th easiest set of matchups since Week 5 ( source).Out of the pocket, Wentz is at 5.2 y/a, 56% completion, and 72 passer rating ( source).Wentz has the 4th highest bad throw percentage in the league (21%) ( source).Wentz has the highest number of "danger players" - any play in which the QB lacked awareness or took an unnecessary risk that could have resulted in a TO ( source).Top performers like Stafford, Rodgers, Josh Allen, all suffer from higher drop rates than Wentz ( source).Wentz's receivers have the #12 best separation in the league ( source).Wentz has the lowest "true completion percentage" factoring out unpressured throwaways and dropped passes (64.2%) ( source).Wentz has the 5th lowest "on target" throw percentage in the league (71%) - he's missing his targets 30% of the time ( source). In the last game, Wentz had a better PFF passing grade under pressure than not ( source).Wentz has the fifth highest time-to-throw in the league (2.93s) ( source).80%+ of Wentz's sacks have come when he held the ball for 4.0+ seconds ( source).Wentz has the second highest "pocket time" - average time the QB had in the pocket between the snap and throwing the ball or the pocket collapses (2.8s) ( source). ![]() The O-line has the seventh highest pass block win rate ( source). On plays with 0 pass rush wins - meaning no defender beat his blocker within 2.5 seconds of the snap - Carson Wentz has a QBR of 44 ( source). There's tons of excuses floating here that the Department of Wentz Defense is coming up with. But to not recognize that there is a huge heap of blame that lands on Wentz's feet is just willful ignorance. Yes, everyone on the offense is a problem. Last in QBR, last in RTG, highest INT, highest fumble, lowest completion rate, the list goes on. ![]() We all know the common stats showing Wentz's historically poor drop off this season.
